Mercy does not mean laxity or rigidity… People who are lax wash their hands out of mercy ; they are only merciful in appearance. In fact they are not conscious of the problem and do not take mercy seriously. They minimize the reality of sin. Mercy : the word reveals the very mystery of the Most Holy Trinity. Mercy: the ultimate and supreme act by which God comes to meet us.
